Now THIS is a dysfunctional family!
It begins as a normal family: Dad, Mom, Son and Daughter. But soon life events take over, and the resulting reactions by family members leaves something to be desired.
Dad is untrue to Mom. Brother gets a deadly disease. The homeplace burns down and the son dies from it.
Dad is guilty, the daughter can't trust, the Mom wants to control. Daughter does therapy, but it's not really helping - she still can't commit to a relationship. Dad drinks too much. Mom is still trying to control her daughter.
Now the daughter is getting married and wants Dad to walk her down the aisle - at the site of the old homestead.
You'll have to read the book to see if and how this is resolved. But you sure won't be bored as you watch all the pussyfooting around and avoidance of the truth by this family.
