Aliens on Vacation by Clete Smith

You know those strange creatures you used to see on the various Star Trek series?  They all vacation with Scrub's Grandmother...

Disney-Hyperion has just published this book.  I got my copy from Net Galley (thanks to you both).  Check with your local bookstore for a copy.

OK, if you have any imagination at all and enjoy reading about fantastical creatures, you'll love this book.  Scrub is terribly disappointed he's being sent to his Grandmother's home for the summer.  She lives in Forest Grove, Washington, where you can't even get a WiFi connection.  At the end of the road.  With nothing to do.  He'd rather have stayed home in Florida and worked on his basketball skills.  But he has no choice.

When he arrives, his Grandmother is very pleased to see him!  She needs some help with the tourists who visit her Intergalactic Bed & Breakfast.  In no time at all, she has new guests arriving and he finds just exactly why she needs help...

With the strange creatures, a sheriff who is rabid on shutting down Grandma's B & B, and a girl he really likes around, Scrub has quite a time of it.

The plot is very good, the tale full of fun and silliness, and the author neatly packages up a remarkable ending.  Mr. Smith has done a very nice job of creating a book young ones can read again and again.  It might even inspire them to do some artwork to see what kind of creatures they might envision.  It would be fun to read aloud, too.  Why not grab a copy of this book and share it with your young one?

Happy reading!
