Children of Paranoia by Trevor Shane

It's a war, with rules.  And it's being fought on our soil by our people...

Dutton Books published this book in September, so you can snag a copy at your local bookstore now.  I won an ARC of it during a contest (thank you).  I'll be doing a giveaway with the ARC myself, see the bottom of this post for details.

This is a chilling story.  It's a different sort of horror story; one you can almost believe might happen and you hope it will never come true.

Once you turn eighteen, you are required to become part of the killers.  The assignments are secret, you have no friends and it's safer to have no family since the other side has its own set of killers who are after you, too.

You only know they have killed your relatives and you want to even the score.  You don't care why it started and you suspect it will only end with your death.  But you have no choice, you must do your part.  And if you break a rule, you become a target on both sides...

The premise is interesting.  This is the first book in the series and I'm anxious to see where the author goes from here.  The ending of this book is heartbreaking.

If you have an urge to read a book that will scare you, I'm giving away my ARC of this book.  Just leave a comment here on my blog and then email me at info at bookfaerie.com with your NAME AND ADDRESS along with a message about why you'd like to read it.  I'll pick a winner in about a week.

Happy reading.
