Verita by Tracy Rozzlyn

Brett had everything.  Cool friends, great parents and a nice home to live in.  That is, until her parents died in a plane crash.  Then everything changed...

The author graciously shared a copy of this ebook with me for review (thank you).  You can purchase a copy of it on Smashwords or Amazon right now. This is Book One in the series Ms. Rozzlyn is creating.

After Brett finds her parents had everything mortgaged and she has no visible means of support, she suddenly ends up in foster care at a school that caters to orphaned children.

As she wonders how she found herself in this predicament, she has a visitor who asks her if she would like to take the ultimate adventure and go to space to start a new world.  I'm not sure how I'd react.  The idea of an adventure like that is intriguing, but when you don't know anything at all about the world and it's animals and plants, it would make me think.  With no family and nothing to look forward to in line, Brett decides to go.

My favorite part of the story is when she sees violet eyes looking back at her from the bushes.  She knows not what the animal is, but she's dying to find out!  It's a cool surprise...

The story sounds authentic.  There are lots of rules, little space on the planet that is habitable yet, and you learn while you're in your pod.  Everyone has a job; teams work together.  Yet something seems not quite right...

I enjoyed this read.  The author makes her characters human, with good and bad characteristics, and you care about them after a few chapters.  By the end of the book, you're rooting for Brett and hoping for her success in her next adventure on the new planet.

The very best part of this blog hop is that you can check out 50 books in all.  Here's the website to read about them:  http://indiebookcollective.wordpress.com/

Another good thing is that this helps the troops.  It's Veteran's Day today, let's remember those who are fighting for our freedom and often giving their all for us.

Did you know that over 300 overseas troops have requested books?  And the Indie Book Collective is going to make sure they get them?

This Veteran's Day weekend, November 11th-14th, any reader can participate in the charity that gives back to the troops!

Over 50 authors will be giving away free eBooks, one for each person who leaves a comment on their blog and one for a soldier or veteran.

The purpose: To give away as many books as possible to the soldiers and veterans who request them.

Just visit the Indie Book Collective blog from November 11th-14th to see each day's authors and join in on the blog hop. You're guaranteed to get tons of books and so will our brave men and women who serve our country with honor!

Happy reading!
