God's War by Kameron Hurley

There's not much left of the world, but the war is still ongoing.  It looks like it will never be over.  One ambitious Bel Dame has an idea that she thinks she can use to end this war and to use as a way to conquer more worlds...

Nightshade and Net Galley let me read this ebook for review (thank you).  The book was published in January, so check with your local bookstore to get a copy.

The author gives you dominant women, various persecuted races, magic involving bugs, and a country scourged by war and filled with conniving leaders.  This story is action-packed, death is common, and no one is what they seem to be.  If you die and you have enough money, you can be brought back to life.  You can have your limbs returned.  It's what the magicians do with the bugs that that makes it possible.

Relationships are fleeting, families no longer exist, and no one cares if you die.  It's hard to survive in times like these.  Nyx and her team are just trying to do that and make some money from bounties.  That's not an easy job either.

The story is full of war and death even if it is fantasy.  If that subject matter bothers you, don't read it.  If you like imagining what a war of the distant future might be like, this is the book for you.  I also think there will be a sequel because Nyx misses one of her employees.  I think she's going to go back for him one of these days.

Why don't you read it and see if that's what you think?  Just remember:  Nobody really wins in a war...

Happy reading.
