Vanishing Girls by Katia Lief

The Working Girl Killer had disappeared and everyone hoped it meant his killing spree was done.  Then more young women turn up dead with the same MO...

Harper Books and Edelweiss allowed me to download an ebook of this story for review (thank you).  The book is being published June 26th, so add it to your TBR list.

Ms. Lief writes a traumatic spine-chilling thriller that grabs your attention and then immerses you in actions and emotions that are almost overwhelming.

Most of her characters are carrying baggage from the past and trying hard to survive in today's world.  Add the murder of young women, a little girl hit by a car and what those have in common, and it turns up a cauldron of crime of the worst sort.

This is the world of Manhattan and Brooklyn and all the people involved are respected, refined citizens.  It's jarring to the investigators that someone they knew and had dealt with could be so deep in something so disgusting.

It's an intense read that will stick with you after you put it down because things like these do happen in the world today.  It's a sad and bad thing, but it happens.

This is the third book of this series.  It was easy to read without the others for background, but Karin is an investigator that made me want to know about her.  You can pick up the first two books while you wait for this one to published and get up to speed on her past.  Or you can just read this one and look forward to the next.

Happy reading.
