Murder in Thrall by Anne Cleeland

Doyle is a young Irish redhead; Acton is a British Lord.  They both work for Scotland Yard.

Kensington Books sent me an ARC of this book for review (thank you).  It was published in August, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.

Ms. Cleeland writes an interesting story.  It's a murder mystery with an unlikely romance.  You share the thoughts of a male who is almost stalking Doyle and I wasn't sure whose thoughts they were.  The mystery is twisted and sordid, and the police almost lose focus on the crimes because of their interest in each other. Such an attraction might exist, but a poor Irish lass and a British Lord aren't an appropriate match.  Yet, somehow, in this story it works out.

In time, the hunters become the hunted and there's so much strife and trouble in the area they're searching, they almost lose their lives.  The ending is astounding.

This was a strange and interesting read.  The trail of death doesn't go cold until the killer dies.  The romance keeps warming up.  And I kept reading to see what happens.  Why don't you give it a try?

Happy reading.
