The animals in this circus are happy! They get treated well by Sir Sidney, enjoy their friends and only do a few shows a week. Life is good. Then Sir Sidney needs a rest and puts a new man in charge. Boy, do things change!
Algonquin Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this ebook for review (thank you). It will be published September 10th.
If your child likes animals, this is a great story for them. It's funny, silly, and a good read. The illustrations are great.
Barnabas Brambles comes in with a whip and sees only how much money he can make. He fires the engineers and puts the acrobats in their place (this is a BIG mistake). He schedules daily shows, tries to chase off the mice and the crow, and he decides to get rid of Leo, the lion. And all this happens in one week!
As the mishaps pick up and he misses shows and writes bad checks, Mr. Brambles sees everything falling apart. When Sir Sidney attends the last performance, he sees how bad everything is. He also sees Mr. Bramble apologize. From there, things get better.
This was an amusing story with lots of laughing points but it also has a message about doing things well and not being so focused on money. I liked it. Why don't you give it a try?
Happy reading.
