World of Trouble by Ben H Winters

Hank is still looking for his sister.  They might not have agreed on the way the world would end, but he wanted to see her and hug her one more time.  He has nothing else to hold him, so he takes off on the hunt.  Searching for clues can be very dangerous.  No one trusts anyone, everyone is desperate, and they'd rather kill than listen...

Quirk Books sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you).  It has been published, so you can grab a copy at your local bookstore now.  This is the third and final book in a trilogy.  You can read it as a stand alone but I'd recommend reading all three.  You'll miss some nuances and some understanding of the final story if you read it by itself.

Hank has a weird dude traveling with him.  It's still better than being alone.  Mr. Winters has created a dystopian world that sounds too much like it could happen if the disaster was big enough.  When your planet is going to be struck by an asteroid what can you do?  Some commit suicide, some gather together for common protection, some think they can outwit it, and some just go on with life.  You can't fight some things, you just need to accept them.  But not everyone feels that way.

Hank's journey is hard, more people die and his dream of being reunited with his little sister doesn't turn out like he planned.  He does have a place to go at the end, even as his dreams die.  What more could one want?
