Sam is a new real estate agent. She is still learning the ropes and is hoping for a sale so she gets a commission to live on. When a big old estate comes up for sale, she's excited for the opportunity. Her son will be proud of her if she can pull this one off.
Alibi and Net Galley allowed me to read this ebook for review (thank you). It will be published May 17th.
This is a new series and I like Sam as a character. Her husband deserted her years ago and her son has grown up and turned into a fine young man. She has a decided interest in Bernie, the chief of police in town. The only problem is that he's her sister's ex-husband. Then her long-lost husband shows up back in town. Why now?
With a mix of the past and present all coming to light, there's plenty going on. Especially when she gets three offers on the place before it's barely gone up on the market. They all sound moneyed and important. She shows the property to the first two interested parties but the third one is found dead on the grounds. No one was there, he must have arrived early. Who could he have met?
As she asks questions, she finds out that nobody was who they claimed to be and her ex-husband seems to somehow be involved. He has a past that he didn't tell her about either.
It's an odd case, she follows several false leads, and she gets saved by Bernie. This was a good cozy mystery and I'll be watching for the next in the series.
