Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger

Finley can see ghosts.  If it wasn't bad enough having ghostly companions, they talk to her.  She doesn't understand what they are talking about but she can hear them.  Her mother tries to stop her awareness of this skill, so she moves in with her grandmother.  She has the power, too.  Everyone's power is a bit different, so she'll have to learn how to use hers on her own with a bit of guidance.

Touchstone Books and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published June 7th.

When a retired cop asks her grandmother for help finding a young girl that has been stolen from her parents, she tells him he will have to work with Finley; it's her case.  Finley doesn't want to do it but she can't ignore it either.  She even sees the boy and his father shot on the trail but she's looking from a boy's eyes and can't see him or his father very well.  Nor does she recognize the trail.  Besides, search and rescue was all over that area and didn't find a thing.  But Finley will...

This is a tale with a lot of drama.  The missing girl's parents are on the verge of divorce from grief.  Finley is trying to break up with her boyfriend but she can't stay away from him.  Her grandmother has cancer.  The kidnapper is insane.  It twists around and around and the author throws in a strange ending.

The tale is interesting and Finley has already found her next case so she'll be back.  I'd read another about her.  The background has been set so the next one should be more about the case.  Finley's powers are fascinating.
