Rutabaga the Adventure Chef: Book 2: Feasts of Fury (Adventure Chef #2) by Eric Colossal

How could I not review a book that is named after one of my favorite stew vegetables?  Not only that, there's a pot that's magical.  It can walk, fly, and run errands.  What more could you want?  How about some gubblins?

Abrams Books sent me an ARC of this book for review (thank you).  It is being published today, so you can grab a copy now.

This is a silly fun story filled with outrageous antics, monsters, and food recipes you will never want to try!  It begins with Rutabaga on a journey to find the best things to cook.  He wants something unique and something that will be wonderful so he's searching the forest for ingredients.  That's not what he finds, though.

He finds an old man that talks about a secret ingredient.  He goes to the old house and enters to find the ingredient.  He finds spiders.  And the mama spider is huge!  He has to run for his life.  The old man tells him the secret ingredient is spider web.  Doesn't sound like my sort of thing.

Then he runs into a down-in-their-luck group of actors.  He feeds them and cheers them up but they get robbed before they can get their act back on the road.  The only problem is the thief took his pot and backpack!

It isn't too long before he gets caught by the gubblins who want him to cook for them.  He does...

With lots of quirky adventures and impossible recipes, this will appeal to middle grade readers.  They'll be giggling over his misadventures and they'll have fun reading.
