Not Dead Enough: A Cal Claxton Oregon Mystery by Warren C Easley

What grabbed my attention was the location of the mystery.  It's at the Dalles Dam and we used to camp at Maryhill State Park and eat in the Dalles.  We also visited Shaniko, OR, which is a ghost town.  I knew where Celilo falls used to be and have a history book about it in my own library.  It was like visiting home again but I'm glad I never found any dead bodies in my visits!

Cal has agreed to take on the Indian granddaughter's quest to answer how and why her grandfather died.  He didn't realize he was setting himself in front of an assassin's gun when he did it.  There are more deaths, more truths are revealed, a case of fraud shows up and there's even more that comes to light before the end of this story.  The killer was no one I expected.  This is a good read with history, political ambitions and a past that won't stay buried.  Even when they find out who killed grandpa, this story isn't over yet.  It's good all the way to the last page.
