Blood Symmetry by Kate Rhodes

She's going jogging with her young son like she does every morning.  A couple grab them in the park and take them away in a car.  The son escapes but is mute.  He can't talk about who he saw or what happened.  Alice gets involved since she's a forensic psychologist and she tries to help the young man recover from his trauma.  Her boyfriend is leading the investigation.  This case will deeply impact both of them...

Witness Impulse and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published July 12th so you can grab a copy then.

This is my first Alice Quentin mystery and she's a very interesting character.  She tends to shy from personal relationships.  She's had the longest one of her life with this detective chief and she still shies away from making a commitment.  Then she ends up getting very close the victim's boy and she ends up loving him.  She can't keep him but she can't help it.  When she's dealing with all this, she's also helping with the case by interviewing suspects with the police.  Often she just observes but she has some good questions of her own.

The abducted woman is having blood drawn from her daily.  This blood is then being spattered on buildings that use blood for medical services.  They have no clue where she is and it's a mystery why the blood is being thrown around.  More doctors have died and more will die before this story is over.

You know there are a man and woman involved but not who they are.  An error in the past is what is driving this crime.  Tainted blood was used in the London medical system and it either killed people outright or they got AIDS or other diseases.  The victims and children of the victims are being assessed to see if they are the killers.

They had the right motive but they didn't have the killers yet.  The worst part is that something like this actually happened.  Tainted blood did make its way to London and killed a lot of people.  I could almost sympathize with their cause but murder isn't the answer.

If you read this one, you won't be bored.
