Cat Got Your Diamonds: A Kitty Couture Mystery by Julie Chase

Lacy is back home in New Orleans.  She'd moved away, found love, and was engaged to get married.  Then she found out he was two-timing her.  She left and now she's operating a new business.  She's making costumes for animals.  Before you laugh, there's good money in it.  She just has to get some good publicity and it will really take off!  Of course, she didn't expect to get attacked at work.  She also didn't expect the police to find him dead in her back room.  Or to be a suspect in the murder...

Crooked Lane Books and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published November 15th.

Lacy doesn't like the hot young detective questioning her about the murder.  All she did was shoot glitter at the man who was after her, she didn't kill him.  But he checks her out and looks up her history and keeps telling her to keep out of it.  She's local who knows all the gossipy ladies and digs out a lot of info he doesn't have.  He appreciates the connections and the info but he still doesn't want her in the middle of his case.  Too bad...

As the story goes on and the case winds around, she finds herself becoming friends with Jack.  She's been burned but Jack appears to be a nice guy and he's pretty patient with her.  Her mother is trying to match her up with another guy, but I think Jack is winning.

This was a good cozy mystery with a complicated mystery and plenty of romance dancing around.  I liked it well enough I'll be watching for the next in the series.  Lacy's a pretty good detective even if she almost ends up dead in this book.  She needs Jack to watch out for her...
